The CESL Asia and Friends Sport Fun Day was held on 10 June at Workers Stadium, a cooperative effort to promote social integration and stimulate institutional, corporate and public awareness for the untapped potential for the challenged members of our community as contributors for the social and economic development of our community. The event, with the support of participating entities and individuals, succeeded in raising a total of MOP 80,000 for Macau Special Olympics (MSO) to empower its mission of transforming lives through sports.
This year’s event aimed at increasing the number of participants that are involved in CESL Asia’s annual Sport Fun Day activities by including a bocce ball tournament alongside with the annual football tournament which have received great support and recognition from those participating in previous years. The bocce tournament fostered face-to-face interactions among participating teams with MSO athletes and families as well as cultivated mutual understanding through the joy of participating in sports activities. The on-site Kids Corner extended the fun to the younger participants and also helped to introduce them to the benefits of an inclusive society into all aspects.
The impact and success of the event were attributed to the generous support of the participating teams, namely Administration of Airports Ltd., Banco Comercial de Macau, Banco Nacional Ultramarino, Be-1, BOC Macau Branch Sports Association, Ernst & Young, Galaxy Entertainment Group, Global Communications Advertising & Marketing Ltd., Golden Burger (Macau) Food Co. Ltd., Housing Bureau, Jardine Lloyd Thompson Ltd., Jorge Neto Valente, Lawyers and Notaries, Jornal Tribuna de Macau, Macau Coca-Cola Beverage Co. Ltd., Macau Daily Times, Marine and Water Bureau, Melco Resorts & Entertainment Ltd., MGM, Milton Exhibits & Engineering (Macau) Ltd., Philippine Consulate General - Macau SAR, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Sociedade de Jogos de Macau, S.A., The Macau Institution of Engineers, and University of Saint Joseph, as well as over 80 volunteers.
Some participants expressed their excitement in exploring the bocce game and the hand-on experience of partnering with MSO athletes; while the latter shared their joy in meeting new friends.
As committed at the establishment of its Social Investment program in 2000 and inspired by its motto “How to grow a city.”, CESL Asia will continue fostering the interaction among diverse parties of our community through sports events and other initiatives, while working with its staff, their families and business associates for the development of a prosperous and caring community.
CESL Asia Advocated the Life-saving Voluntary Acts via its Blood Donation Activity
On 13 May, Mr. António Trindade, the President and Chief Executive Officer of CESL Asia, led the group’s Social Investment Team to the Macao Blood Transfusion Service Centre for collective blood donation, encouraging the life-saving voluntary acts and ensuring sufficient blood supplies for the city.

This activity was held for the fourth consecutive year, together with more than 20 CESL Asia members and their families to support this meaningful life-changing event. CESL Asia continues its efforts in contributing to the community and helping the needy through blood donation, hoping that this initiative can influence all around the society with caring.

On 24 August, CESL Asia organized its Kids Movie Day for the sixth consecutive year. CESL Asia Social Investment (CSI) Team entertained around 80 local kids with the animation movie Chibi Maruko-chan: The Boy from Italy, through which the company wished to deliver a message of embracing cultural diversity to the kids while they were enjoying the movie. After that, a lunch party at McDonald’s restaurant in Macao Science Center was arranged to further amuse the kids.

The company has an enduring partnership with CESL Asia in the latter’s Social Investment Program, jointly fulfilling their social responsibility. The CEO of Golden Burger, Ms. Michelle Ho and the President & CEO of CESL Asia, Mr. António Trindade, together with senior management, were present at the party and had a great time with the kids. The performance of classic McDonald’s iconic characters and interactive games aroused continuous peals of merry laughter and exaltation of all participants, perking up an exciting ambience.
Participating kids came from four local child care institutions, Cradle of Hope Association, Fountain of Hope Association, Lotto Home, and Mong-Há Children and Youth Home, many of which CESL Asia have been working with for years to jointly create unforgettable summers for the less fortunate kids. CESL Asia Kids Movie Day over the years witnesses the growth of the kids and meanwhile enables CSI Team to gain precious and beneficial experience.
In 2000, CESL Asia established “CESL Asia Social Investment” fund (CSI), a non-profit fund intended to enhance the intellectual, social, cultural and physical well-being in local community and among staff members. This activity was held for the third consecutive year in CESL Asia. A volunteer expressed that he had his first blood donation through this activity three years ago and now he is a regular donor. Through organizing various social investment activities, the company hopes to enhance the association and exchange among its staff, families and the community while giving back to the society.

After several rounds of keen competition, the championship went to CESL Asia Team. The tournament finally came to a successful end with a check presentation by Mr. António Trindade, the President & CEO of CESL Asia, to Mr. Hetzer Siu, the CEO of the Macau Special Olympics.

CESL Asia invited the less fortunate kids from four local child care institutions, Cradle of Hope Association, Caritas Family Services, ECF Macau Fellowship Orphanage, and Mong-Há Children and Youth Home. With this event the company aims to provide a day of joy and warmth to the kids and support their families and caretakers, while providing an invaluable opportunity to enrich CESL Asia and its team with the experience of developing and executing a successful social investment project.
To enhance our young guests’ experience at the movies, our CSI Team specially purchased gift sets made and packaged by mentally and physically disabled individuals from Fu Hong Association and distributed the gifts to the kids participating in the event.
McDonald’s Macau continued to render support to this event by sponsoring lunch meals to the participating kids. Their Managing Director, Ms. Michelle Ho joined Mr. Antonio Trindade, the President and CEO of CESL Asia, together with his senior management and CSI Team for the lunch party and enjoyed a great time with the kids. The presence of Ronald McDonald further enlivened the pleasant atmosphere and he delighted the already excited kids with fantastic magic show, attracting continuous exhilarated laughter and cheers of all participants.
Believing that those youngsters are extremely important for the future of our company, CESL Asia, through its Social Investment Program which was established 15 years ago with a charter that includes a specific mandate, as part of the company annual business plans, develops its own programs in support of youth and community development.

Macao, 18 July 2015 - Macau Special Olympics (MSO) hosted its “2015 CESL Asia & MSO Bocce Game Event” at the MSO headquarter on 18 July. The event was planned on the hope that, through the bocce game, mentally-challenged people or students with special education needs would be motivated to participate in sport activities, which are believed to be beneficial to their physical and mental health.

The event was planned on the hope that, through the bocce game, mentally-challenged people or students with special education needs would be motivated to participate in sport activities, which are believed to be beneficial to their physical and mental health. In an expression of their enthusiasm to foster social integration of able-bodied and disabled persons, volunteers from CESL Asia – Investments & Services, Limited also took part in the bocce game and participated with the players.
The activity attracted around 100 participants, including mentally-challenged individuals from special schools, sheltered workshops, caring centers and residential homes as well as their parents. The game encouraged participation of non-athletes by classifying them into various groups on basis of their ages and skills. All participants enjoyed very much their experience of the game.
This was the third consecutive year of CESL Asia’s sponsorship of the bocce game. On the day of the event, more than 20 enthusiastic volunteers from CESL Asia convened to play with the students, with an aim to enact the spirit of integrating able-bodied and disabled individuals and to promote social acceptance for special groups in our community.
At the same time, this game served as a performance test for the MSO Bocce Team prior attending the international competition.
Representatives from CESL Asia, Macao Sport Development Board, Education and Youth Affairs Bureau, Macao Sports Committee and other agencies also attended the event and granted the winning athletes awards as encouragement.

Such charitable acts could arouse more concern in local business organizations and communities for Macau people with intellectual disabilities, in tandem with a promotion of corporate social responsibility.
Macau Special Olympics provides people with intellectual disabilities free sport training, tournaments and recreational activities in various degrees on year-round basis, hoping to encourage development both physically and mentally so that these people can explore their potential, enhance self-confidence, and cope with possible challenges in future. At the same time, it not only allows these less fortunate to experience an enhanced sense of meaning in their lives, but also enable the community to have a better understanding and acceptance of them.
