Earlier, during an official visit to Macau, His Excellency Dr. Manuel Castro Almeida, Minister of Economy and Territorial Cohesion of Portugal, held a private audience with CESL Asia’s leadership team, represented by Mr. António Trindade, President and CEO of CESL Asia, and the Group COO Mr. Roland Schoorl. The discussions focused on the potential for a high value contribution of Portugal in the development of global logistics and industrial infrastructure, as well as innovative and sustainable renewable energy and agriculture solutions in Portugal.

The Minister welcomed the vision of Macau as a platform connecting European, Asian, and Lusophone markets in Africa and South America, and welcomed CESL Asia’s proactive efforts in fostering cross-regional collaboration. Both sides agreed that discussions would continue to explore collaborative opportunities.

CESL Asia also received a number of distinguished Portuguese representatives, including Eng. João Moura, Portuguese Secretary of State for Agriculture, and Dr. Alexandre Leitão, Consul General of Portugal in Macau and Hong Kong, accompanied by Dr. Rios de Oliveira, Board Member of AICEP, and his team. These engagements further strengthened the foundation for bilateral cooperation and opened new avenues for diversified collaboration.

In Portugal, CESL Asia’s Monte do Pasto farm in the Alentejo region has emerged as a flagship project demonstrating the integration of agriculture and renewable energy. During a recent visit, Eng. João Moura, Portuguese Secretary of State for Agriculture, and Ms. Helena Cavaco, Vice-President of CCDR-Alentejo, engaged in in-depth discussions on the future of Portuguese agriculture.

A key highlight was the AgroPV, a model that combines agricultural production with renewable‑energy generation, promoting efficient land use, attracting investment, and creating new opportunities for qualified employment. This approach would place Portugal among the most advanced countries in agro‑energy integration.

AgroPV is also a gateway to next‑generation agricultural technologies that support water savings, optimize resources, and reduce labor needs, essential elements for the long‑term sustainability of the sector. Besides, representatives from Monte do Pasto and Innoliva also highlighted tangible outcomes and impact from their business, underscoring CESL Asia’s role in growing cluster of innovation and impact investment that is contributing for the future of Portuguese agriculture and to the regional development.

CESL Asia’s initiatives align closely with the objectives of the Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macao), which aims to empower enterprises and deepen multilateral cooperation. By combining advantages of Macau Platform with Portugal’s strengths in agriculture and energy, as well as gateway for market access to the EU, Brazil and Lusophone countries, CESL Asia business development model is inspired in the idea of using our Macau–Portugal bases for value creation by the efficient flow of technology, capital, and expertise across regions.

CESL Asia’s COO, Mr. Roland Schoorl, was invited to attend "The World Shunde Entrepreneurs Conference and Shunde-Macao (Portuguese-speaking Countries) Economic and Trade Exchange Conference," a flagship event under the 14th World Conference of Shunde. As a representative of a corporation engaged in Sino‑Portuguese economic and trade cooperation, he presented the Group’s transformation into a Macau Platform, with opportunity to multiply the successful developments in energy and agriculture through fund investment financing, hopefully with Macau participation.

As a corporation deeply rooted in Macau for many years, CESL Asia has consistently regarded the city as a vital platform connecting China and Portuguese-speaking countries. Leveraging Macau’s unique strategic role, we have actively expanded into the Portuguese and mainland Chinese markets, continuously fostering cross-regional industrial collaboration and driving diversified business development. Mr. Schoorl highlighted the Group’s expansion from engineering consultancy and facilities management into Energy and Agriculture, and described several flagship innovations, including the pilot project in the Group’s farms in Portugal, which combines agricultural production with renewable‑energy generation.

He also outlined the Group’s application of artificial intelligence across operations, demonstrating how AI has been used to improve energy efficiency and optimize operational management in activities such as district heating & centralized cooling. This enabled the partnership in Beijing to be recognized by Chinese State as a national-level new and hi-tech enterprise in 2024.

The conference convened business representatives from Portuguese‑speaking countries and the Greater Bay Area to jointly explore new opportunities for Shunde-Macau cooperation, expansion into Lusophone markets, and collaboration under the Belt and Road Initiative. CESL Asia will continue to leverage the advantages of Macau Platform as a strategic bridge between China and Portuguese-speaking countries, advancing regional economic integration and achieving mutually beneficial development.

At the early planning stage, the team works closely with clients, architects, and other consultants to gain a thorough understanding of project requirements, operational objectives, energy-efficiency targets, and budget considerations. Based on these needs, the team develops tailored MEP strategies and detailed designs covering key systems such as electrical, HVAC, fire protection, plumbing, intelligent building, and vertical transportation systems. Through careful technical evaluation and cost analysis, the team ensures that functionality, operational efficiency, and financial objectives are effectively balanced.

Throughout the project lifecycle, the MEP team maintains a rigorous commitment to quality and compliance. The team’s expertise is particularly evident in large-scale infrastructure projects. A notable example is the Macau International Airport Substation Renovation Project, where the team was entrusted with analyzing the Airport’s overall power distribution network and developing strategic upgrade solutions. In addition to detailed design, plan development, and budget assessment for Substation No. 1, the team also provides supervision, quality assurance, and technical support throughout construction, testing, and the subsequent defect liability period. Through projects of this scale and complexity, MEP team at MPS continues to contribute to Macau’s urban development and infrastructure resilience, supporting the sustainable growth of the city through engineering excellence.

The exhibition area at CESL Asia's headquarters has officially opened. The area blends art and spatial aesthetics, creating a creative and inspiring platform for employees and visitors, further enhancing the humanistic atmosphere of the office environment.

The exhibition area features a curated selection of outstanding entries from the “CESL Asia Social Investment Initiative: Kid’s Drawing Contest” since its launch in 2020. Centered on themes such as future cities, environmental protection, and technological innovation, the artworks vividly capture young minds’ imagination and their aspirations for the world ahead. Through these expressive and heartfelt creations, viewers, including CESL Asia colleagues, can appreciate the power of art and gain meaningful insight into how younger generations perceive the sustainable development of our city.

Previously, the award-winning artworks from the 2025 edition were also publicly exhibited at IPOR - Instituto Português do Oriente, attracting wide attention and positive support from various sectors of the community. The exhibition provided a valuable platform for local children to showcase their creativity and artistic talent, and also foster broader public awareness of the importance of nurturing future generations’ creativity and encouraging reflection on the sustainable development of the city.

Cherry, who is studying Finance and Economics, interned in the Financial Control Department, and the Legal and Compliance Affairs Department. Although she initially had limited familiarity with data processing, she gradually developed a more systematic approach to her work. With the guidance of her mentor and support from cross-departmental learning, she deepened her understanding of the interplay between finance and law, strengthened her grasp of the company’s requirements for process management and compliance, and clarified her direction for future studies and career planning.

Gary, majoring in Electrical Engineering, interned at FOCUS Facility Management, a subsidiary of CESL Asia. By participating in daily maintenance and operations, he effectively translated classroom knowledge into practical experience. Through this work, he gained a well-rounded understanding of engineering responsibilities, including technical applications, communication and coordination, and safety management. In parallel, he improved his on-site adaptability and reinforced his safety awareness, laying a solid foundation for his future career in engineering.

Both interns stated that CESL Asia offers a clear training framework, abundant learning resources, and strong support from mentors and teams, enabling them to grow steadily and continuously improve in an encouraging and structured environment.
